Update: Tree Management Project Affecting Jordanstown
Translink is currently undertaking the removal of a number of specific, targeted trees along the railway line close to Glenville Road in Jordanstown.
It is essential that these trees are removed in order to facilitate the reduction of risk to passengers and services on the NI Railways network; they are being removed as part of a wider tree management and health and safety programme across the network to minimise the risk posed by overgrown and overhanging trees, or trees that are otherwise deemed to pose a risk to the railway network. However, Translink are fully committed to a one-for-one replacement, so a new tree will be planted for every one that will need to be removed.
The trees in question have also been subject to a full ecological analysis to ensure that no bird, bats or wildlife are present before the planned removal.
Work is expected to last approximately ten weeks and will largely take place during night-time hours, between midnight and 5am. However, due to the nature of the works, some noise is likely to be generated; however, every effort will be made to keep all noise and disruption to a minimum, and to carry out the works as quickly as possible.
Translink will be providing additional clarity to the small number of private landowners with identified trees within their property boundary, as well as to those living within a defined 200m radius of the planned works to update them on planned works and attendant noise.
Should you wish to know more about this important project, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Translink directly.
