Rail Line Closures Over the Christmas Period
Translink will be carrying out planned essential engineering work on Northern Irish rail lines between Sunday 25th December and Monday 2nd January inclusive, as well as Sunday 8th January 2023.
As a result, the Larne line will be closed in its entirety during this period, with bus substitution services operating from nearest bus stop to halts. Passengers who would normally use Clipperstown station should use substitution services from Carrickfergus Train Station throughout this period.
East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, said: “I strongly recommend any would-be passengers in East Antrim to plan your journeys in advance so as not to get caught out by these closures. A necessary evil for an improved service”.
There will also be a part closure of the Derry rail line during the same period, with bus substitution services operating between Antrim and Belfast Lanyon Place and Great Victoria Street. The line will operate as normal between Derry and Antrim. Bangor, Portadown, and cross-border lines will remain open with a holiday timetable in place.
Please note that no NI Railways services will operate on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
