Minister's Answer
The Street Works (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 (the Order) forms the legislative framework for street works by statutory undertakers such as utility providers. The Order requires the undertaker, when reinstating a street, to comply with such requirements as may be prescribed in relation to the specification of materials and the standards of workmanship to be observed. These requirements have been prescribed in the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Roads (2nd Edition), a code of practice approved by the Department under Article 31 of the Order.
