Mayor Williams Encourages New Blood Donors to Come Forward
The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Alderman Noel Williams, is backing a call for more new blood donors to come forward.
Mayor Alderman Williams said: “The number of new donors halved during the coronavirus pandemic, but the demand for transfusions has largely stayed the same.
“This reality presents real challenges to our health service, who are humbling asking for our help”.
Mayor Alderman Williams continued: “Changes to the criteria for donor eligibility introduced last August means that there are now more people than ever before in Northern Ireland able to give blood.
“So if you haven’t donated before, please consider registering today. Giving blood really does save lives”.
