Dickson & Williams Support BBC/LibrariesNI Book Week
East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, together with Mid and East Antrim Councillor, Noel Williams, have welcomed the BBC and LibrariesNI Book Week initiative.
Mr Dickson said: “Even during this awful pandemic there are still a range of ways one can enjoy the benefits of your local library. For example, you can almost ‘Click & Collect’ by ringing up and say what type of book, or books, you would like and they will be there waiting for you to nip down and pick them up from the Library foyer – simple as that – Click & Collect.
“You can actually get into the Library to use their computers to get on line or produce a document. That facility is limited to one hour during the Covid ‘circuit breaker’ but that should be adequate for most reasonably urgent jobs”.
Councillor Williams concluded: “The BBC has excelled itself with Book Week awareness programmes including journalist William Crawley who profiled some outstanding home grown talent, including Brian McGilloway a prolific and outstanding writer from Londonderry. Even the Ulster Orchestra was involved in the promotion this year bringing music to the ears whilst the eyes devoured pages of the written word.
“So there is no excuse, make a date with your local library or go online with the BBC and explore a whole new world with a good book and your own imagination”.
