Dickson Welcomes Minister’s Answer on GP Services

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has welcomed an answer from the Health Minister that confirms GPs have a responsibility to provide core services to their patents during the current Covid-19 Pandemic.

Mr Dickson commented: “Over the past few months, I have heard numerous concerns from patients having difficulty in contacting their GPs, or reluctant to do so because of the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic.

“In response to question from me about GP services, the Health Minister has confirmed that core GP services are continuing. Of course GPs will need to prioritise patients and ensure safety, and operating a telephone triage service is a key part of this.

“Therefore, I would encourage people who have health concerns to call their GP practice to discuss this, and avoid any health issues from deteriorating.”
