Dickson Welcomes Additional Funding for the Expansion of Project Stratum

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has welcomed additional funding for the expansion of Project Stratum to more premises in East Antrim.

Mr Dickson said: “Project Stratum aims to improve broadband connectivity by extending Next Generation Access broadband infrastructure to approximately 79,000 premises across Northern Ireland which currently don’t have access to meaningful broadband services.

“The Department for the Economy has secured £32m in additional funding to bring approximately 8,500 premises within scope of the Project.

“Of this number, an additional 159 premises in East Antrim will be beneficiaries, bringing the total number of East Antrim premises coming under the scheme to 2,033”.

Mr Dickson concluded by saying: “The last few years have shown us just how vital connectivity is, not just for homeworking and life admin, but for connecting socially with friends and family.

"That more rural dwellers will be better connected is a real win".
