Dickson Warns of Electricity Price Increase and Urges Consumers to Look Around for Better Deals

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has warned his constituents that PowerNI, Northern Ireland's biggest supplier, will be increasing their electricity prices by 6.9% from 1 July 2021.

This means that Power NI customers’ bills will rise by around £39 per year.

Mr Dickson said: “We can’t function without electricity, but rising energy bills will pose substantial challenges for many, especially those already experiencing financial difficulties.

“I would urge anyone with concerns to think about ways of reducing your energy costs. This could mean switching your payment option, changing your billing method, or switching supplier to save money. Your first port of call could be contacting your current supplier to see what support they can offer.”

Mr Dickson also highlighted the Consumer Council’s free Energy Price Comparison Tool to compare all electricity and gas tariffs currently available in Northern Ireland.

The tool can be accessed here: www.consumercouncil.org.uk/comparison_tool
