Dickson To Speak at the Assembly’s “Voices from the Commonwealth” Event This Evening
East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, will be taking part in the NI Assembly’s “Voices from the Commonwealth – Connecting, Innovating, and Transforming” event this evening at 7pm, to celebrate Commonwealth Day.
Commonwealth Day 2021 has been organised by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in collaboration with over 180 Parliaments and Legislatures. This year’s theme, “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming,” aims to bring the people, and their representatives, across the Commonwealth regions, together to champion networks of friendship and goodwill.
Mr Dickson said: “I am honoured to have been invited to participate in the “Voices from the Commonwealth” session. We will be joined by six exceptional young people, all with different backgrounds and stories to tell, and I look forward to hearing what they have to say.”
Mr Dickson continued by saying: “We have had a difficult year which has shown us how important our friendships across the globe truly are – the Commonwealth is an excellent network, and I believe it is a network that will continue to grow from strength to strength. Hearing directly from our young people will be crucial in ensuring this.”
The CPA, now in its 110th year, exists to develop, promote and support Parliamentarians and their staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and to implement the enduring values of the Commonwealth. The CPA is an international community of over 180 Commonwealth Parliaments and Legislatures working together to deepen the Commonwealth’s commitment to the highest standards of democratic governance.
