Dickson Supports Marine Litter Capital Grants Scheme
East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has spoken out in support of the Live Here Love Here Marine Litter Capital Grants Scheme. He is encouraging local organisations and groups to apply for support before Monday 27th September.
Mr Dickson said: “This excellent scheme offers organisations support in purchasing items to prevent litter and plastic pollution from entering the sea. A concerted effort to reduce such litter, will improve the health and wellbeing of our local communities, protect our marine life, and keep our public spaces beautiful.
“July has been an incredibly hot month, and with a hot August in store, many of us are rediscovering an appreciation for our local beaches and seafronts. Going for a dip in the sea, or catching up with friends and family by the water, is an excellent way to make the most of the summer, but keeping these areas clean and free from litter will maximise our continued enjoyment of these spaces.
“Therefore, if you are a local organisation or group who could benefit from obtaining a Marine Litter Capital Grant, please do apply before Monday 27th September.”
The scheme - provided by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affair - is being delivered through the Live Here Love Here collaborative partnership, involving DAERA, ten Local Councils, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.
Financial support of between £500 and £40,000 will be available to constituted groups, businesses and statutory bodies meeting the eligibility criteria. Whilst financial support of between £500 and £5,000 will be available to non-constituted groups.
