Dickson Encourages Reponses to the Energy Strategy Consultation

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has encouraged local people to respond to the Department for the Economy’s consultation into an Energy Strategy for Northern Ireland.

The Department for the Economy is currently consulting on how Northern Ireland can move to zero carbon energy, with the consultation period ending on 30 June 2021.

Mr Dickson commented: “The move to green and clean energy will be a mammoth task, but is necessary to tackle the climate emergency we face. There are also major opportunities for Northern Ireland to secure investment and many green jobs, but we must take a lead in zero carbon to maximise these.

“The Energy Strategy and the actions that flow from it will have a real impact on all our lives, so I would encourage anyone with a view on the matter to contribute to the consultation. I would also recommend reading Alliance’s Green New Deal document, which sets out our policy on building a just and prosperous zero carbon future for all.”
