Dickson Encourages People to 'Make the Call'
With 2021 off to a rocky start for many, the Department for Communities aims to ensure that all NI citizens are receiving the benefits, supports and services they are entitled to claim via the department's Make the Call Wraparound Service. To use the service, NI citizens can call 0800 232 1271* where experienced advisors will carry out a free and confidential Needs Assessment to check their entitlement to social security benefits, additional supports, and other services. Assistance ranges from help with completing benefits forms, applying for blue badges, and requesting support with heating costs and home security.
During 2019/20 Make the Call helped 9,620 people claim benefits they were missing out on; and they are on average now £88 better off per week. In East Antrim specifically, 497 people who made a claim with the help of the team are now in receipt of benefits, services and supports they were otherwise unaware of. So, if you think the service could be of value to you and your family, Make the Call on 0800 232 1271*.
