Dickson Commends £178 million in Support for Businesses

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has commended the Department for Finance, for announcing £178 million in new business support grants.

Mr Dickson said: “Covid is still presenting challenge after challenge to our business community, so today’s announcement is a very welcome one indeed. The schemes developed by the department will ensure that businesses continue to feel supported, and jobs continue to be protected, as we move closer to the light at the end of the tunnel.”

The schemes, which will support almost 20,000 businesses, include:

• A £50,000 grant for large businesses unable to access grant funding during the first lockdown;

• A £25,000 payment to manufacturing businesses unable to access grant funding during the first lockdown; and

• Top-up payments of £5,000 and £10,000 for businesses which received grants during the first lockdown but are not eligible for one of the current Executive support schemes.
