Dickson Expresses Concern Regarding EasyJet Data Breach

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has expressed concern following an announcement by EasyJet that the email addresses and travel details of approximately nine million customers, and the credit card details of more than 2,000 customers have been accessed by hackers.

Mr Dickson commented: “Although many people will be understandably worried by this news, EasyJet has said that there is no evidence that any information has been misused, and they will be informing affected customers in the coming days. However, it is as important as ever, to exercise extra vigilance when receiving unsolicited communications to ensure they are genuine. The Consumer Council is advising that anyone who has received a suspicious call, email or text supposedly from EasyJet or EasyJet Holidays should contact EasyJet directly on 0330 365 5000.

“Given the rise in scams in recent times, I would also strongly encourage anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of cybercrime, to contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or www.actionfraud.police.uk.”
