Dickson marks Holocaust Memorial Day

East Antrim Alliance candidate Stewart Dickson, as one of his last acts as MLA for 2016-17 mandate, signed the Holocaust Memorial book in Stormont.

Mr Dickson said: “Genocide is not a single act. It does not happen without warning or signs. It is built by discrimination, racism and hatred, as they go unchecked and unchallenged.

“We must always be aware of what could happen if we do not constantly strive to oppose discrimination.

“It should always be remembered that the Holocaust was not the last genocide of the 20th century.

“Followed by the Cambodian genocide, the Rwandan genocide, then only one year later, the genocide in Bosnia in 1995. More recently the world witness the genocide in Darfur in 2003.

“With the current international climate, encouraged by Trump and his irrational refugee ban, we must be endeavour to be more caring and considerate then ever.”
