Stewart Dickson MLA hosted the ‘This is What a Co-operative Looks Like’ event at Parliament Buildings on Tuesday 15th November.

The event was organised by Co-operative Alternatives and Social Enterprise NI and hosted by the All Party Group on Social Enterprises, of which Stewart Dickson is Chairperson.

The event called for Stormont to support co-operative model. The Stormont Executive was urged to do more to support the Co-operative Movement – a vital source of jobs and wealth generation to the Northern Ireland economy.

Stewart Dickson said: “I was delighted as Chairperson for the All Party Group on Social Enterprises to support Co-operatives in Northern Ireland.

“The support shown by other MLAs at the event also gives a clear message to the Executive to support the co-operative model.

“Co-operates are member-owned and member-governed enterprises. Co-operatives bring people together, to access goods and services. The impact on job creations from co-operatives is another fantastic contribution they bring to local communities.”

The call was made as more than 20 organisations went to Stormont 15 November to show Northern Ireland Assembly members what it means to be a co-operative.
