Alliance Party East Antrim MLA, Stewart Dickson, is delighted that planning approval has been successful for a new build at Woodburn Primary School.

Mr Dickson MLA said: “It was way back in 2013 when I began pressing the then NEELB and the Education Minister to help the school, which was then operating out of mobile classrooms, as it is was already long passed the time that the 193 children were provided with adequate facilities.

“I specifically raised the issue of funding for Woodburn School to ensure that their meagre resources were enhanced and maintained in a reasonable condition prior to what I hoped would be a complete rebuild of the school.

“Whilst the new Head, Mrs A Rea, has been pressing the case very professionally and skilfully since she took over, I would pay a particular tribute to former Principal, Melanie Craig, for the sterling work she initiated and brought as far as she possibly could before her retirement.

“I now look forward to a superbly enhanced facility in which the children can continue to learn, develop and grow into their adolescence and progress into secondary education.”
