About Stewart
Delivering for East Antrim
Stewart Dickson is an Alliance Party Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for East Antrim. He entered the Assembly in May 2011, returned in 2017, and re-elected in May 2022. He is the Alliance Party Spokesperson for Justice.

In the last mandate, Stewart was a member of the Committee for the Economy, working to build a more inclusive, sustainable, dynamic and just economy, and holding the Department to account.
​
Stewart is chair of the Assembly All Party Groups on Diabetes, Social Enterprise, Cancer, and Access to Justice, as well as deputy Chair of the Assembly Standards and Privileges. Stewart is also a member of the All Party Group on Ageing and Older People. Stewart is an Assembly pension trustee.

Stewart was born and raised in East Antrim and believes in providing the people of this great constituency with the standard of leadership and representation they deserve.​
Experience
A strong voice in the community, Stewart was a member of Carrickfergus Borough Council (now Mid & East Antrim Borough Council) for over 30 years, representing constituents from all over the Borough and wider afield.
Stewart is a leading voice of the people on welfare rights, planning issues, environmental matters, open spaces, improved roads and public transport. He is a passionate campaigner for the introduction of third-party rights of appeal in planning decisions. He is particularly proud of his participation in the campaign to save the green belt around Greenisland and a wide range of environmental campaigns in the constituency including No Gas Caverns Islandmagee and No to Cloughan Point Oil Terminal Whitehead.

A long time Trade Union activist and an Alliance Party member since its inception, Stewart has taken the lead in anti-sectarian campaigns in the workplace and the community, working with such groups as Counteract and the Peace People.
​
Until his election, Stewart was employed as a Senior Employment Relations Manager in the Labour Relations Agency, where he was a nationally trained workplace mediator and Arbitration Secretary.​

Stewart is a Winston Churchill Fellow. Only 100 British Citizens are awarded these fellowships annually, to recognise 4-8 weeks of international travel and learning which benefits others in the UK through sharing the results of their experience.
​Outside the Assembly
Stewart is married to Sandra, who is an active member of the Alliance Party in East Antrim. They are also members of Greenisland Presbyterian Church, where they are both Elders.
A local youth leader, Stewart has been involved with 1st Greenisland Boys' Brigade Company as Captain and an officer, and has sat on the boards of Governors in Silverstream, Greenisland, Woodlawn and Carrickfergus Central primary schools. He also has an interest in a wide range of community and other groups throughout the Constituency.​
Vision
Stewart's vision is for a united community, strong economy and sustainable environment in East Antrim.​
